A Note of Invitation from the
Director of Music and the Arts
Music and the creative arts are integral parts of life and worship
in the Presbyterian Church. The creative arts help reflect our common
faith and beliefs, and give expression to our faith. We offer opportunities
for anyone interested in making music and using other artistic gifts
in the Lord’s honor. Choirs and instrumentalists, bands and ensembles
provide a wide range of music to enhance our worship services throughout
the year. Their music is meant to glorify God and to urge us to
greater mission in the world. Actors rehearse skits and plays that
offer powerful messages for God’s people. Our children’s music ministry
is committed to combining quality musical training with Christian
development. Music and worship have the potential to change lives
and bring the world closer to the living God. If God has blessed
you with a gift for the creative arts as well as desire to participate,
then consider yourself invited to use that gift in the Lord’s honor
here at Clairmont!
Soli Deo Gloria!

YOUTH AND ADULT MUSIC MINISTRY
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is our main service choir. It is open to all
singers of High School age and above. In addition to their wonderful
week to week ministry in worship, the Chancel Choir presents two
extended works or cantatas each season, usually with professional
instrumental accompaniment: the first being presented at the Candlelight
Christmas Eve services, and the second sometime in the spring. All
music presented during the year includes a wide variety of styles
from traditional anthems and motets to spirituals, gospel, and folk.
PLEASE NOTE: Prior experience and full-year/every Sunday commitments
are NOT required. While the Chancel Choir team works toward
artistic presentations of substance and integrity, greater importance
is placed on their prayer and fellowship life together, supporting
a primary reason for their being called together: to worship Almighty
God.

Clairmont
Youth Orchestra
Groundwork is being laid for a possible Youth Choir forming at
Clairmont. Contact Mike Strain for more information. All middle
and high school age youth are welcome to join the Chancel Choir.
There are now several youth who sing in this choir from time to
time. Talented and motivated youth can become members of our First
Light Music Team (by invitation only). Our youth are also asked
to participate in the “youth only” solo and ensemble performances
occasionally. Particularly, we try to get together an organized
group of instrumentalists for special services each year. All youth
in middle school and high school who play a band or orchestra instrument
are welcome to participate. When this group is called together,
they usually meet for rehearsals two weeks prior to their scheduled
worship offering time. Let us know if you play, sing, and have a
desire to participate.
