Career Networking
Decatur Career Networking Group (DCNG)
NO MEETINGS DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.
Our weekly meetings include the following:
· Greeting and introduction
· A brief presentation and discussion of networking concepts. Currently, we are looking at Harvey Mackay’s book, Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty. This is a one of the best networking books available in which Mackay provides a 10-step process for developing a successful network. Each step includes several chapters of useful information and personal stories of successful networking.
· Finally and most important, we spend the bulk of our time going around to each jobseeker, hearing their “elevator speech”, discussing their job search challenges and helping them make connections with our own networks.
To help us better understand what you are seeking in a networking group, please respond to our online survey at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LSQW9VK
So far, those who have taken the survey have said this about what they are looking for in a group:
85% of you have indicated that the location of the DCNG, at Clairmont Presbyterian Church, is a major reason that you have attended our meetings….
54% of you have indicated that the most important service a networking group can provide is the opportunity to network with others seeking work 1 on 1 or in a small group….
46% of you have said that the ideal size for a typical networking group meeting is 15-20 people. 39% have said that more than 20 people is the ideal size….
