The 2010 ski retreat was absolutely amazing! We reserved a TWO STORY HOUSE right on the slopes! That’s right, SLOPESIDE lodging! If you wanted a snack, you simply pointed your skis to our personal lodge and grabbed a bite or sat by the fire with friends. Next year will be as memorable. Only nine months to go!
Super Bowl weekend is the nation’s largest youth-led weekend of giving and serving.
Each Super Bowl Sunday in February, the Clairmont Youth collects donations in large soup pots and donate 100% of their collection to a local charity of their choice. By using that weekend as a time to help the hungry, our youth will learn about the reality of hunger in their own neighborhoods and are turning one of the nation’s universal days of celebration and parties into an opportunity to care for those in need.
This national movement began on Super Bowl Sunday in 1990 by a simple prayer spoken by Brad Smith, a South Carolina pastor, "Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat," and the son of one of Clairmon'ts own, Don Smith. Young people have collected more than $50 million through the Souper Bowl of Caring. Every penny goes to local charities. Thank you for your donation.
30-Hour Famine
Middle and High School Youth
Date: 2011
Before this day is over, 29,000 children under age 5 will die because of hunger, disease and poverty.
15,000 of them will die from hunger alone. Today… tomorrow… and the next day… That’s one every six seconds.
But here’s the good news. Students of CYM are choosing to make a difference. Every year we take part in World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine. We raise money by not eating for 30 hours so other kids can eat.
Clairmont has participated in this event for several years and has raised over $28,000 the past 4 years for underprivileged kids around the world.

"Be Hungry"
Rafting 2010
High School Youth
Date: May 28-31
Join CYM in rafting down the Ocoee – America’s Olympic River! With dam-controlled releases, we can promise you exciting class 3-4 whitewater rapids on each trip down… The Ocoee rafting is a blast! The Ocoee was the host river for the 1996 Olympics and for good reason!!
We will be roughing it the easy way. Big Frog Expeditions has 27 platform tents that we will have reserved. Each tent will sleep four people on a comfy 4-inch thick foam sleeping pad. The tents are conveniently located near their outpost store, restrooms, and hot showers!
We will enjoy our time at the campground (when not rafting) by just going with the flow. That may mean an intense volleyball game (which WILL happen!), eating, slip and sliding, ultimate Frisbee, reading a book, playing cards, etc.
Each summer we go for a week long camp at Lee University in Cleveland, TN
Does your child sleep, you ask? This is completely optional. JK! All students and counselors will be housed in air-conditioned dorm rooms at Lee University.
What about food?!? Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided in the school cafeteria as part of your conference cost. We will feed you beginning with dinner on Monday night and your last meal will be dinner on Friday.
What is the purpose of going to the Great Escape? Why does Clairmont Presbyterian Church Participate? The Great Escape is filled with both lecture and discussion drawn straight from the Bible. Often youth open up more while on a retreat and this gets their minds rolling on wholesome things. This is great for our counselors, which help to lead TGIF all year, to dig deep with the youth. Also, the amount of time spent building long-lasting and trusting relationships is huge. We’re talking 120+ continuous hours together – that’s more time spent than the whole year in attending just weekly events!!!
