WATCH FOR 2008 MISSION TRIPS

Amazon River Mission Trip 2007
Friday, June 8 - Monday, June 18, 2007
Clairmont’s mission to the Amazon region of Brazil was a collaboration with Rivers of the World (http:// www.row.org) and the Igrega Presbiteriana de Manaus (Presbyterian Church of Manaus). The IPM provides mission outreach and medical care to the people who live along the Amazon and its tributaries within a 500 km radius of Manaus. The church owns 4 river boats that travel along the river from February to November. The mission trip focused on medical care, evangelism, and spiritual support for evangelists who work in the state of Amazonas. Our team lived on a boat and traveled to new villages each day. Clairmont provided a medical staff (doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists) that helped with clinics, as well as volunteers who helped with worship, vacation Bible school, and coordinating donated clothes and supplies. We joined an equal number of Brazilian medical staff and volunteers on the boat.

Costa Rica Mission Trip 2007
9 days in July 28 - August 4
This was Clairmont’s first mission trip to Costa Rica to visit the Mahechas. They were excited about their visit and helped to clean mold out of apartments so that they can again be used for ministry. They also learned more about Guido and Sara’s ministry and the University where they teach. They did some sightseeing in the area. The Team visited several churches to learn more about their work to reach out to the larger community, andvisited schools in poor areas of the city to learn more about Presbyterian efforts to make education available to everyone. The Team spent some time sightseeing, including a visit to the volcano near San Jose.

Fortaleza Mission Trip 2007
10 days in late June 17-26
Clairmont’s mission trip to Fortaleza was a collaboration with the Fortaleza Presbytery. Their work in Fortaleza centered on continuing the construction of a retreat center outside the city and on establishing a relationship with the communities nearby. They participated in Vacation Bible School, door-to-door evangelism, and other kinds of outreach. Their visit was coordinated by a local church, and they worked side by side with members from that church. They also did some sightseeing in the area. The Team wisited the Presbyterian seminary and several churches to learn more about their work to reach out to the larger community. They visited schools in poor areas of the city to learn more about Presbyterian efforts to make education available to everyone. The Team also spent a few afternoons sightseeing, visiting Fortaleza’s famous beaches, and shopping for souvenirs. The Team stayed at the Seminary. The Presbytery arranged for cooks and a van driver.

If you have any questions for any of the mission trips, please call Darrell Jones at (404)388-1936.

Azalea Village Ministry: The primary purpose of the Azalea Village Ministry is to provide Transitional Housing to needful families and individuals in a nurturing Christian environment.

BACKGROUND OF MINISTRY: The Azalea Village Ministry (AVM) was created by the Session of Clairmont Presbyterian Church (CPC) at their February 2005 meeting. At that meeting, the elders discussed thoroughly how God would want CPC to best use the houses and land which the church owns on Azalea Circle and Clairmont Road to implement its long-term vision and mission.
