What is LaAmistad Ministry?
LaAmistad is a tutoring program that meets right here on our campus every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30pm - 5:30pm during the school year. We have around 25 Latino students from BriarVista Elementary School who come to strengthen their academic and life skills through devotions and homework, as well as immerse them in activities to enhance their English literacy. The words la amistad mean “the friendship” in Spanish. At LaAmistad, friendships between students, students and staff, and also students and volunteers are cultivated every day, and their impacts can last a lifetime. What is Toco Hills Community Alliance?
Toco Hills Community Alliance is an ecumenical outreach that brings together multiple churches and businesses in our area to serve the homeless and needy in the Decatur area. The mission of THCA is to practice radical hospitality and love to those who are most in need. It is our neighborhood food pantry, providing groceries and emergency aid for families, as well as providing daily hot lunches. They provide tools and assistance programs that help families get back on their feet and provide opportunities for individuals and organizations to help their neighbors in meaningful ways.
