Headshot 1.jpg

Nicole Lock was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from Davidson College (go Wildcats!) Upon graduation, Nicole served in youth ministry for eight years in North Carolina and Virginia before discerning Christ’s call to ordained ministry. After earning her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, she returned to Atlanta in 2009 when she was called as Associate Pastor for Discipleship at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Snellville, where she ministered for five years. Since then, Nicole has served as interim pastor for various congregations in our Presbytery and in Cherokee Presbytery. In 2017 Nicole received her Doctor in Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. As part of her doctoral track “Transforming Congregations,” Nicole worked with several congregations in their worship ministry, titling her thesis project: “Why Is This Hour Different From All Other Hours? The Mission of Worship.” An active member of our Presbytery, Nicole has served on the Committee for Preparation for Ministry, the Examinations Commission, and the Executive Presbyter Nominating Committee. Outside of ministry – or rather, an extension of her community ministry – Nicole serves as a volunteer Run Lead with Atlanta Track Club.

Other fun facts about Nicole: She is:

  • A born-and-raised native of Atlanta, Georgia.

  • An only child of a wonderful family.

  • A diehard college basketball fan, particularly when the Davidson Wildcats or Carolina Tar Heels are playing or when any team is playing during March Madness.

  • A caffeine addict, especially of the Starbuck’s variety and most especially when shared over conversation with new or old friends

  • An endurance runner. I have completed twenty half marathons and six full marathons.

  • An aficionado of good food. While we love to try new restaurants, my husband and I also love to cook at home together. (He’s a better cook than I am.)

  • A globe trotter. I enjoy traveling and seeing what Jesus is doing around the world. I also love traveling to visit family - “The River” and “The Farm” are two of my favorite vacation spots.

  • A partner in mission. I’ve had the privilege of joining in Christ’s mission in various places, from Rise Against Hunger and Family Promise, to hurricane relief work in North Carolina and Louisiana, to global missions in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Kenya. I look forward to seeing where the Spirit leads me next.

  • One (of the two) “favorite humans” of two fun-loving cats.

  • More importantly, a beloved and loving wife of my husband James for fourteen years.

  • Most importantly, a beloved child of God and disciple of Jesus Christ.
